In his upcoming book The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, Harrold offers insider insight into what Harry and Kate's relationship was like before the breakdown of the brothers' bond.
“They involved him,” Harrold, writes in the upcoming book, according to an excerpt published by The Telegraph on Monday, Aug. 18. “He used to go out with Kate. William would be away, and Kate and Harry would be off doing stuff together.”

While Will, Kate, and Harry were often seen out as a group of three, Harrold says that Harry and Kate also had a strong bond on their own, and were known to “go shopping” and “go to pubs” together.
“I think when people say, ‘Oh he was left out,’ he really wasn’t. But also, he was with Chelsy," Harrold writes, referring to Harry's ex-girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, who he dated off and on from 2004 through 2011. "Chelsy was always around. And Chelsy and Kate got on really well.”
Harry's close bond with both Will and Kate was on full display at the couple's wedding in 2011, where Harry served as best man and made a speech that reportedly made his sister-in-law tear up.
"It was affectionate, warm and funny and touched William deeply," royal expert and biographer Katie Nicholl wrote in her 2017 book Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, adding that the speech made Kate shed a tear. "When he said the couple’s decade-long romance was his inspiration, there was a shy smile from Chelsy, while Kate shed a tear."
Even amid Harry's issues with William, reports have suggested that he and Kate have maintained at least some of that old bond they shared. In 2021, a palace source said that Harry actually texted Kate directly to share the news with his family that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, had welcomed their daughter, Lilibet.
At the time, The Mail on Sunday reported that a Palace source said Harry sending the text message to Kate was a way of "cementing her role as a bridge between him and his brother."

]]>New attendees usually sit in the luxury suites, showcasing the top-half of their latest US Open outfits. Last summer, Taylor Swift made her US Open debut in the uppermost tier. The football WAG segued to tennis-core with a gingham Reformation mini dress (in Kansas City Chiefs red, of course). The closer you get to the court, the more Wimbledon-inspired the attire reads. See Kendall Jenner a few rows below Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. The supermodel looked Centre Court-ready in a polished little white dress and The Row accessories, straight out of the London tournament's all-white look book.
If I'm lucky, celebrity tennis-goers will pose for an unofficial step-and-repeat before the initial serve. Unfortunately, this was more common before the 2000s. Back in 1999, Britney Spears was all smiles at her first (and only) US Open. Marie Claire's senior fashion news editor, Halie LeSavage applauds Spears and her larger-than-life tennis ball—"method dressing before we even had a term for it."

Now, the US Open is back for the 125th edition—and outfits inspired by the players' gear are much more common. From now until September 8, I'll be watching the stands like a hawk, searching for the year's best take on tennis-core. In the meantime, I asked Marie Claire editors to round up their favorite celebrity outfits from US Opens past, all of which will be going on my mood board for next year. I'm manifesting a suite to see the best looks IRL.

"It was seven years ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday: the Hadid sisters gloriously flouting the post-Labor Day style 'rule' at the U.S. Open. While Bella looked great, it's Gigi's look that stands out for me. That Vivienne Westwood shirt, casually tossed over one shoulder! The white biker shorts to match her sister's dress! The nameplate necklace ("Zayn," because this was seven years ago) and little Prada bag! There's an effortlessness to this look I can't get enough of."—Jenny Hollander, digital director

"This US Open look rewrites the tennis-prep playbook—trading crisp polos for a glossy varsity jacket and some denim cutoffs. The loafers with scrunched socks are the perfect early-fall curveball: sporty and a little irreverent."—Sara Holzman, style director

"Before there was Tashi Duncan in Loewe, there was Zendaya in Cartier for the 2022 US Open. Luca Guadagnino had to have seen the shots of Z in her aviator reading glasses and Cartier Panthére watch and been inspired forChallengers.
Zendaya's courtside outfit is luxurious because it's so understated: she doesn't have to play the over-the-top, on-theme US Open styling game to win best-dressed all the same."—Halie LeSavage, senior fashion news editor

"Emily Ratajkowski approached her 2023 US Open outfit the same way I would if I could swing a ticket to the coveted tennis championship: the tastemaker went with an undeniably preppy outfit, but with a tongue-in-cheek twist that spoke to her distinct fashion POV.
She nodded to the signature prepster, yuppie code of a cardigan slung over her shoulders with a front-knot slate gray sweater, but chose black leather knee-high boots instead of the expected tennis sneaker for shoes. Ratajkowski's US Open outfit was clever, on theme, and, crucially, very on brand for the cool girl."—Emma Childs, fashion features editor

"I love Bella’s off-duty model looks, but seeing her in denim is always the icing on the cake because it's so relatable. I think this look was so flattering as it hugs her figure, but still gives that 'I’m here to serve' vibe!"—Ashlyn Delaney, associate social media editor

"This Kendall Jenner look makes my minimalist heart soar. From the baseball cap to the chunky earrings (which perfectly tie in to her Bottega Veneta bag, might I add), this outfit is a masterclass on accessorizing.
Navy and butter yellow is also a color combination I would have never thought to style together, yet it proves to be so chic. Dare I say, Kendall was way ahead of the curve when she stepped out in this look in 2022?"—Brooke Knappenberger, associate commerce editor

"I said it when I covered the look last year, and I'll say it again: Taylor Swift's "Miss Americana" Reformation mini dress was the best surprise the 2024 US Open had to offer to me, personally. Covering Swift's outfits for Marie Claire is its own spectator sport, but this sighting was refreshingly simple and Easter egg-free.
There's something so classic about the way she styled her dress with black sunglasses and a bright red lip—and it's sweet that Kelce got in on the couples' coordination with his red-and-white Gucci outfit. I suspect summer 2025's gingham obsession started with this outfit in the center of the industry's mood board. While I missed out on shopping Swift's exact dress last time, I'm crossing my fingers she'll come back in another under-$300 find."—Halie LeSavage

"Seeing Serena Williams at the 2024 US Open made my tennis-loving heart melt. It was the GOAT's first time watching from the stands, as opposed to playing in 21 tournaments.
She sourced herself for style inspiration, specifically the pleated denim mini skirt she wore at the 2004 US Open. A cropped short-sleeve jacket completed Williams's Canadian tuxedo. Everything from her chunky sneakers to double-denim will be my blueprint when I eventually sign up for classes."—Meguire Hennes, fashion staff writer

"Olympian Jordan Chiles was a whole vibe at the 2024 US Open. Her pleated skirt and collegiate cardigan were such a cute way to bring her personal style courtside. I love the way she added a bit of girliness with the pearl necklace to contrast the super-sporty look!"—Christina D'Ambrosio, deputy director, social

"Barbra Streisand only visited the US Open once, 32 years ago. Even so, her all-white outfit lives rent-free in my head. If I ever score tickets, catch me in the Grammy winner's summer whites, from her bucket hat to her statement sneakers. The rounded sunglasses upped her tennis attire's Nantucket-ready aura."—Meguire Hennes

"Not to mix my pop girl metaphors, but Britney Spears's 1999 US Open outfit is the Sporty Spice ideal. She matched her long-sleeve tee and mini skirt to an extra-large tennis ball for her photo op. The more I flip through the archives, the more I'm tempted to copy her chunky sneakers, if not the entire on-theme outfit."—LeSavage

"Whenever I'm feeling little white dress fatigue (which is often in the summer), I study Beyoncé's 2016 US Open outfit for inspiration. On day four, she sat courtside in a taupe-and-white top from For Love & Lemons. Its floral cutout bodice just barely peeked out from underneath a Zimmermann trench coat.
Before Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, Bey was ahead of The Row rise with oversize round sunglasses. She hasn't attended the US Open since, but I have hope for her grand return this year."—Meguire Hennes
]]>During a recent appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the actress admitted that sharing romantic scenes with Harington for their upcoming movie The Dreadful was, well, literally dreadful (actually, the word she used was "vile").
“I have to be honest," Turner said of kissing Harington for the movie. “It was bad.”
Of course, to be fair, the ick factor for Turner had nothing to do with Harington as a person or actor and everything to do with the family-like bond they developed while playing half-siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow for eight seasons on Game of Thrones.
When Turner signed on to not only star in, but also produce The Dreadful, she said she “immediately … thought of” Harington and was excited to tell him that she “got this script for this amazing Gothic horror” that he would be perfect in. Harington agreed that the script was great—but, unlike Turner, he was also immediately aware of the inherent awkwardness that would come with him taking the role.
“I sent the script to Kit,” she explained. “He kind of sent me a message back, like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to, but this is gonna be really f*cking weird.'”
Turner said she didn't immediately realize what he was talking about, but quickly realized just how many intimate scenes their characters had throughout the film.
“Kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex,” Turner said, recounting her thoughts as she went through the script, taking note of all the awkward scenes she and Harington were in for. “I was like, ‘Oh, shoot. That’s my brother.’ But it was such a good script that he was like, ‘We kind of have to do it.'”
Like true professionals, Turner said she and Harington “put it out of [their] minds," but, like true humans with true human reactions, she also admitted that they were both “retching” when it came time to film their first kissing scene.
After playing siblings for eight years, that seems like a very fair reaction, TBH.
]]>Over the weekend, Fox's longtime manicurist, Brittany Boyce, shared a photo of her new set via Instagram. In the photo, her nails feature a shiny, silver chrome finish with multicolored jewels glue to the top of each nail. Each finger is embellished with several jewels, all of which came in different shapes and color, and they were added on in an abstract pattern.
Boyce has been the brain behind a number of Fox's complex manicures and nail designs lately. Back in May, she wore a manicure that featured angel artwork painted over a baby pink base color and a border made of 3D gel and silver chrome, and after that, she wore hot pink airbrush nails in a coffin shape that were embellished with tiny metal balls on each side. It's looking like I might need to add Megan Fox to my nail inspiration mood board.
Read ahead to see how you can get the bejeweled look at home.
]]>Like its international counterpart, the surprising sincerity of Are You My First? belies its eyebrow-raising title (and Iain Stirling-style voiceover narration). Especially after a summer of intense reality drama, the cast of this series feels like a breath of fresh air, with a handful of ready-made TV personalities (and alums from other shows) sprinkled in. Leave your expectations at the door; there are way fewer corny challenges and way more genuine conversations (and sex-education trivia) than you'd expect.

To build out its roster of virgins, Hulu found hopeful singles including L.A. models, Florida entrepreneurs, a pageant queen, a romantasy author, and a handful of Mormons. Below, read on to meet the cast of Are You My First?.

]]>This season, it’s all about versatile finds and elevated design details. Suede jackets (especially the ones at Zara) have effectively replaced leather options as the go-to style of he season. Barn jackets, like the ones from J.Crew, are popular amongst London and New York It-girls for their easy-to-style capabilities. They're back for 2025 in a mix of classic and revamped fall-ready colorways. And if you loved summer’s boho trend, consider an embroidered jacket that gives the same energy as the weather cools—the trend is still going strong for fall, after all.
Ahead, find enough street style inspo to suit your fancy, plus a few editor-selected trendy jackets that you can rely on for the next four months. And while you're sprucing up your fall wardrobe, stock up on the most in-demand shoes, bags, and more.

Suede is the luxe-feeling fabric that fashion insiders are rallying behind this season. Often found in rich shades of brown, it offers a way to expertly transition your summer dresses (and other essentials) into fall. Then, layer it over a knit once the fall weather actually kicks in.

I don't believe that essential items need to be boring. Instead, why not invest in elevated versions of the pieces we need to wear? That's why I'm so obsessed with fall's windbreaker trend. The once-sidelined style is back for autumn in chic colors and outfitted with on-trend details, so there's never been a better time to buy.

Funnel-necked styles offer a mix of form and function. Firm, high collars protect against bitter winds and rain. At the same time, they give even the simplest outfit a feeling of dramatic flair. For more style points, Olsen-tuck your hair into the back of your collar.

If you loved summer's obsession with track pants and sporty shorts, you're going to love the track jacket trend. Even the least athletic shoppers amongst us know that the style is working right now.

I've been a bomber jacket superfan for a few years now. Part retro, part cool-girl, this season's bomber offerings are made in a mix of preppy cotton fabrics (like the ones in Aritzia's newest fall drop) and smooth, subtly oversized leather.

We can't spend the chilly weather months bundled under a blanket. On the days when that's impossible, consider a quilted jacket. They add a subtle whimsical touch to even the most formal fall outfits.

Barn Jackets are one of the must-have jackets not just for this season, but for every season. The silhouette is timeless, but not boring, especially when they come in easy-to-style prints and colors and with elevated suede details.
]]>Biles opted for a classic look: a bun hairstyle that is equal parts functional, yet chic. To achieve the bun, her hair was first parted down the middle and gathered into a ponytail. The ends were then tucked into a bun, and some type of gel or flyaway control product was applied to the front of her hair to keep the style sleek all day.
Bun hairstyles have made a comeback lately, as they are not only extremely practical given the scorching summer heat in many parts of the United States, but they can also be styled for a variety of occasions. Selena Gomez was just spotted in her version of the look at an event promoting her new fragrance. Tracee Ellis Ross wore a cornrow style while visiting Martha’s Vineyard recently. Even Jennifer Lopez has been spotted in the look.
The look has been cemented as a part of the “clean-girl” aesthetic on TikTok, but beyond social media trends, it’s ideal for those seeking a low-maintenance, high-impact hairstyle. The bun can stand alone or be paired with styles like baby braids, half-up, half-down looks, and more. While buns are fairly simple to recreate, achieving the sleekness of Biles’s is where the real challenge lies. Keep reading to shop the products that will help you create the sleekest bun just in time for transitional fall hairstyles.

Denman makes some of my favorite detangling brushes, especially if you're styling wet hair.

Another detangling favorite, this time for dry hair, is this brush from Bur Bur. (Bonus points for it looking really chic.)

When working with my natural hair, I like to divide my hair into two sections horizontally, secure each of them with a hair tie, and use a larger (and more aesthetically pleasing) hair tie to finish the look.
Following an early-morning photoshoot on August 16, the '90s-loving fashion muse was spotted channeling the decade's minimalism in low-waisted khaki pants. They followed the same straight-leg silhouette as her usual denim. On top, Jenner kept it casual in a cropped black tank.(The trending rugby shirt would've read too uniform-ish.) To finish, she accessorized with oval-shaped sunglasses and an L.A. Dodgers baseball cap. Much to my dismay, I haven't ID'ed Jenner's leather carry-all yet. Knowing her, it's from The Row.

I didn't expect to see a khaki-clad Jenner at all this month—if not the entire year. Her flip-flops, on the other hand? I would've bet money on their re-appearance. True to form, she continued her months-long sandal streak in The Row's Dune Flip-Flops.
The $690 slides reached It-shoe status with an assist from dozens of Jenner's casual outfits, encouraging Jennifer Lawrence, Dakota Johnson, Bieber, and Zoë Kravitz to follow suit. Even her sister, Kylie Jenner, got the memo. By styling them with particularly fall-ish pants, the eldest Jenner proved flip-flops are sticking around for another season.
After analyzing Jenner's paparazzi pics, I decided to take my khakis back to the drawing board. Last weekend, I paired them with a button-down and chunky sneakers, leaning into their office-y aura. But, I believe I missed the mark. Jenner's khakis felt effortlessly cool because of her summery accents, especially the flip-flops. Maybe that's what my Saturday morning set was missing.
Palmer shared the photo dump on Aug. 17 as an homage to the start of Virgo season. "My birthday is just around the corner…" the caption reads. In the photos, her hair is cut into a '90s-style pixie cut with just a few inches of length and her hair flat-ironed straight. She wore very minimal makeup, swiping on a few coats of mascara, a bit of lip gloss, some blush, and a thin brow.
Palmer has been experimenting with her hair a lot this year. She's been wearing what now appears to be a signature copper shade since February, when she debuted the color along with mermaid waves at Vanity Fair and Instagram’s Vanities Party, and shortly after debuting her color change, she stepped out wearing a blunt bob, aka the unofficial haircut of the summer. Around July, she attended the Essence Festival wearing chic goddess box braids before trading those in a few weeks later for long, loose curls.
While most celebs have been leaning towards bob haircuts this year, the pixie cut has also been up there as one of the haircuts currently taking over Hollywood. Emma Stone underwent the chop and debuted a dramatic pixie cut at the Golden Globes back in January, and Renée Zellwegger did the same when she covered the February 2025 issue of British Vogue. Keke is the latest celeb to get the big chop, but I'm certain there'll be plenty more where that came from.
If you're also considering a pixie cut as your fall hairstyle, read ahead for a few hair essentials you'll need to have in your inventory.

Having shorter hair means you'll need to use a smaller heat tool that's meant to be used on hair that's closer to the scalp. This is just a mini version of BaBylissPRO's fan favorite titanium iron that'll give you slick, glassy hair in no time.

Before adding heat, protect your strands from damage and dryness with a heat protectant. This one also prevents breakage and reduces frizz.

If your hair is naturally curly, you can also skip the heat and opt to wear your short cut in its curly state. To get the best definition, use a smoothing curl gel that dries down on the hair without hardening or causing flakiness.
On August 17, the mom-to-be finally went cozy-chic in a pinstripe pajama set from her loungewear label, Savage x Fenty. She Rihanna-ified the Sleep Button-Down and matching pants for an errands run around Los Angeles, with help from a reliable styling hack: wrapping her hair in a satin scarf. The head-piece covered her forehead and ears, meeting in a tie at the base of her neck. It was mainly taupe and ivory to match her pajamas-turned-streetwear. Occasional pops of baby blue complemented her oversize heart-shaped Valentino earrings.

If Rihanna wants to wear sleepwear from now until she's in labor, that's fine by me. She can even style house slippers for all I care—or the designer equivalent, ballet flats. Instead of her now-signature Puma Speedcat sneakers, she made the switch to Maison Margiela Tabis. The split-toe model, in all its freakishly delightful glory, featured a satin rose gold finish.
Rihanna's Tabis don't get nearly as much street time as her Pumas. She debuted the $1,191 flats in May 2025, alongside a bow-embellished JW Anderson maxi dress. Before then, she hadn't worn the split-toe shoes since her summer 2016 Tabi ankle boots.
In the intervening years, Tabis divided the fashion community in the style of its cleft toe. Celebrities like Zendaya, Dua Lipa, and Doechii embraced their hoof-like shape, while online creators bemoaned their unusual shape.

Not everyone agrees Tabis are glamorous. But everyone can agree Rihanna's frosted-out accessories define "lavish." If you look closely enough, you'll spot her $99,900 rose gold watch, courtesy of Audemars Piguet. (Between its pink dial and thick, chainlink band, the rich-looking timepiece is hard to miss.)
Even Rihanna's shoulder got the four-figure treatment. She carried her new Gucci Medium Padlock GG Shoulder Bag, a monogrammed taupe-and-white tote available for $2,415.
The PJ trend has come a long way since last summer. Jennifer Lawrence and Kim Kardashian have also swapped lacy nightgowns and bra tops for matching pajama sets. That said, now's the time follow in Rihanna's footsteps, giving the sleepwear and controversial shoe trends some sun.
Most recently, on August 17, Hadid delivered an unofficial step-and-repeat outside her West Hollywood hotel. She curated her anti-fall color trends outfit around a strapless mini dress from With Jéan, a celebrity-beloved brand.
The Australian label advertises Hadid's mini as a "halter-neck dress with a self-tie strap," but the model styled her butter yellow pick strapless. Its drop-waist bodice draped loosely atop two eyelet-embellished belts around her waist. A touch of the bubble-hem trend gave her thigh-length skirt a similar billowy bottom. Shockingly, the halter-turned-strapless style is still available for $239.

Always on board for a pointy pump, Hadid paired her LBD (little butter dress) with Roger Vivier margarine-ish yellow. slingback heels. The patent pair didn't tower over the sidewalk quite like the sky-high Le Sillas she wore to an Ôrebella launch party on August 13. Still, with white-and-yellow uppers, stiletto heels, and gold hardware, the "Vivs" were a perfect pick for daytime.
Hadid has access to any atelier on the market, so she rarely wears one outfit twice. The Ôrebella founder makes an exception for With Jéan, however. This week alone, she's sourced them on four separate occasions—most notably, while promoting her new perfume, Eternal Roots. On August 14, she filmed a TikTok in the same butter yellow mini. She even styled the Magnol Dress similarly with minimal, gold jewelry.
You may not know it, but you've seen Hadid in two additional With Jéan looks this week. She also posed in the Poppy short set, featuring a white Henley top and micro-mini bottoms, on August 14. A few hours later, she changed into the Sharni Top, also in ivory. In her closet, white is a shade that's just like butter yellow: It's so versatile, it never expires.
On August 17, Bieber dined at Coucou Restaurant in West Hollywood wearing a khaki-colored take on the anti-trend. Her '90s-inspired trousers were more high-rise than her usual pants, which she left belt-free. The elongated hems juxtaposed her fitted black long-sleeve top. Other angles reveal her shirt is a boat-neck basic, one of her favorite necklines this summer.
Bieber's WeHo wardrobe would've leaned decidedly October-ish without her kitten heel flip-flops. The Rhode founder slipped on her trusty $520 Toteme thongs, which she's worn on repeat since March. At this point, they're the most versatile shoes in the supermodel's closet, complementing jeans, capris, and trousers all season long. Knowing Bieber, the flip-flops will remain in rotation long after their (supposed) end-of-August expiration date.

Bieber's purse of the evening might've gone unnoticed by those who don't study her daily style. But, after analyzing the blink-and-you'll-miss-it bag, I can confirm: It's the Small Park Tote Bag by The Row. The A-lister debuted her grained calfskin leather handbag this June. It immediately caught fashion girls' attention for its flat handles, interior toggle closure, and $1,550 price tag.
Since June, she's reworn it at least five times, including at the gym in late July. It looked surprisingly cool girl-coded alongside cloud-like slippers from her husband, Justin Bieber's streetwear label, SKYLRK.
Since her trousers streak started in April, Bieber has favored wide-leg black pairs. (The lower the waistline, the better.) Until now, she had yet to style any other color.
In late June, she paired her now-signature Toteme sandals with similar-looking trousers, except in black. This time, her khaki pick was an unseasonal trench coat layered over a white crop top. Bieber's belted Toteme bag bared a striking resemblance to her The Row tote.

In late July, Marie Claire's associate commerce editor, Brooke Knappenberger, predicted the wide-leg trouser takeover, calling them the "best transitional piece out there." Bieber is proving her point, one evening out at a time.
In her memoir Melania, the first lady detailed what it was like visiting London during Queen Elizabeth's reign and revealed that she and her husband kept in touch with King Charles. Describing the end of their June 2019 trip, she wrote: "As we bid farewell to Her Majesty, we extended a cordial invitation for her return visit to the United States. She expressed her gratitude with a warm smile. Sadly, Her Majesty wasn’t able to visit with us again before her death in 2022, but our friendship with the Royal Family continues, and we exchange letters with King Charles to this day.”
Per Hello!, the first lady has noted that she wrote to The King on another occasion, stating, "We kept in touch through letters, exchanging thoughts and ideas regularly." Apparently, the two share interests such as "architecture, gardens, and the arts."

In her memoir, Mrs. Trump also shared that she spoke to The King—then the Prince of Wales—about the environment during the "formal and elegant" banquet hosted in honor of the U.S. state visit. "Our paths had crossed many years ago in New York City,” Melania said of King Charles. "This time we engaged in an interesting conversation about his deep-rooted commitment to environmental conservation."
In addition to the state banquet, the first lady also wrote about the "warm" feelings she and the president shared toward the Royal Family. "Donald and I hosted an intimate dinner in honor of Prince Charles and the Duchess at the US ambassador’s residence—a perfect expression of the enduring ties between our nations," she wrote of their 2019 trip.
She added, "Despite the tumultuous backdrop of British politics at the time surrounding Brexit and changes at the Prime Minister’s office, the Queen and her family extended a warm welcome to us, treating us with the utmost hospitality."
]]>In one particular moment in the latest trailer for Duchess Meghan's Netflix series, the royal can be seen wearing Dôen's Bryony Dress. The sleeveless dress features a gathered waist and striking white buttons down the front. Unfortunately, the chic style has already sold out, and it's easy to see why both Duchess Meghan and Swift are fans of the label.

Swift and Meghan aren't the only celebrities to show their love for Dôen, either. Katie Holmes recently wore the label's $198 Traveler Top in Poppy Field, and Kaia Gerber wore a sold-out, puff-sleeve maxi dress from the brand just last week. Even Belly's The Summer I Turned Pretty wardrobe includes a Dôen top. Now, the label has received a royal seal of approval.
As well as drawing inspiration from The Life of a Showgirl star Swift's closet, the Duchess of Sussex's Netflix wardrobe includes a huge selection of items perfect for every season.
Veronica Beard's Blige Stripe A-Line Midi Dress and Carolina Herrera's Floral Print Midi Dress With Sash Belt in its Lily of the Valley print—both sold out—provide inspiration for end of summer dressing. Heidi Merrick's Finny Cardigan, which retails for $255, provides a snug yet stylish option for fall, and is available to shop in a variety of shades. And Saint Laurent's Tribute Mules in Smooth Leather will never go out of style.
]]>Arriving at the Only Murders in the Building event to a crowd of fans, Gomez was seen wearing a high-necked black dress with an asymmetrical hem, and a long white coat. The actress and producer paired her monochrome clothing with accessories that really popped.
For starters, Gomez carried her Valentino Garavani Vain VLOGO Leather Top-Handle Bag, which retails for $4,100. The singer has been photographed holding this exact purse on multiple occasions, and even paired it with her red turtleneck Cult Gaia dress just last week.

Along with her statement red glasses, Gomez completed her outfit with a pair of heeled flip-flops. While flip-flops have been one of summer 2025's key fashion trends, numerous celebrities have opted for a heeled option this season.
For instance, Hailey Bieber has continually shown her love for Toteme's heeled flip-flops, while Kylie Jenner appears to favor Amina Muaddi's Juliette Patent Kitten Thong Sandals, which cost $800.

Just last month, Gomez was spotted wearing a similar pair of heeled flip-flops, opting for a pair of Proenza Schouler Cable T-Strap Sandals for a date night with Benny Blanco. Clearly, the Rare Beauty founder is a newfound fan of the popular style.
Swift Psychology's child and adolescent therapist, Laura Gwilt, told Hello! magazine, "Research is clear that birth order is not a fixed determinant of behavior, with temperament, parenting style, and life experiences playing equally important roles."
Gwilt continued, "Even so, large-scale studies have found consistent patterns that can offer useful insight into how family roles may develop. In the royal household, these patterns are layered with additional influences such as public life, tradition and, in the case of the Wales children, the historic 'heir and spare' distinction...This combination can subtly shape how each child experiences their role within the family."

Unsurprisingly, Gwilt believes that "[George] may grow up with a heightened sense of responsibility," which is common in first-born children, who "often adopt a role-model position within their family." This might include showcasing "higher conscientiousness and leadership tendencies," the expert explained.
Essentially, George is potentially being expected to "set the standard" for his siblings, which "can foster confidence and maturity, but also increase the pressure to meet perceived obligations," Gwilt noted.

As Prince George has such an important future role, "contrasts between siblings can become sharper," Gwilt explained. "The heir's trajectory offers structure and visibility but brings scrutiny," the expert told the outlet. "Siblings may enjoy greater freedom to shape their own identities, though with less certainty about their roles."
In spite of George's prominence, Gwilt noted the importance of recognizing "each child's contribution" to the family, to ensure they feel "valued in [their] own right." While Prince Harry often found himself referred to as the "spare," Kate and William are likely hoping that neither Charlotte nor Louis feels left out within the family.
]]>The Mail on Sunday has reported that, before Kate, William, and their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—move into the "300-year-old Forest Lodge," a number of neighbors will need to move. In fact, "two separate families who lived in cottages next to the country mansion were asked to vacate their properties," the outlet reported.
Tenants were reportedly "surprised" to learn they'd be forced to leave their cottages on the grounds of Forest Lodge, which had "been rented out by the Crown Estate." A source told the outlet, "They were told to move out. I guess they were given somewhere else, but they were told they had to move."

The source continued, "They were not expecting it. Those houses are very close to the lodge, so they're not going to want any Tom, Dick, or Harry living in those houses if there are going to be royals there."
The outlet also suggested that Forest Lodge is a "considerable upgrade" from Adelaide Cottage. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis's new home includes a "chandelier-lit ballroom, tennis court, Venetian windows, and extensive grounds," per the publication.

Meanwhile, a report in the Express suggested that the Prince and Princess of Wales's "true colors" were on display in their decision to move to Forest Lodge. "In a move showing the couple's true colors, they are paying for the move to the new home themselves and rent at no extra cost to the taxpayer," the publication noted.
]]>Posting a carousel of photos featuring the show-stopping dress, Lipa wrote on Instagram, "my bestie made me a killer dress for another perfect night...everyone say thank you Giuliiiiiiii...also i'm gonna need to start a cake tally at this rate."
The pop star's GCDS dress by designer Giuliano Calza is reminiscent of Paris Hilton's iconic 2002 Julien Macdonald chainmail dress, but customized specifically for Lipa. Featuring a high neckline, two side splits, and a completely open torso on both sides, the perfectly draped dress sparkles in every photograph.

Lipa accessorized her ridiculously shimmery dress with silver Piferi Izma Lace-Up Sandals. While the Barbie star's exact heels have sadly sold out, alternative silver pumps in similar styles are still available.

For jewelry, an eye-catching pair of $4,460 Schiaparelli Fish Skeleton Gold Earrings—heavily leaning into 2025's fish jewelry trend—contrasted with Lipa's almost entirely silver outfit. A smörgåsbord of Tiffany & Co. pieces further accentuated the birthday look, including the brand's $1,400 Elsa Peretti Open Center Cuff, a $1,700 Elsa Peretti Open Side Cuff, and an $1,800 Elsa Peretti Small Bone Cuff in Sterling Silver. Finally, a $6,500 Shay Diamond Baguette Pave Pinky Ring completed the impeccable outfit.

Lipa also wore her custom engagement ring from Turner—rumored to be worth as much as $30,000—bringing her jewelry total for the event to $45,860, which is more than a little impressive.
]]>Some shoppers might consider the paw-forward style "ugly." Khanmalek found them "offensive in a delicious way." "I was definitely influenced to consider wearing them," she tells me.

Vibram FiveFingers weren't initially designed to stop fashion girls in their tracks. The brand originated in 1937 as a hub for mountaineering shoes. When the ergonomic FiveFingers line was introduced in 2005, its barefoot-adjacent designed was geared toward yacht crews: people who are shoe-less by profession but needed extra grip to stay steady on the deck. Hardcore trail runners then picked up the style as a part of a nearly-barefoot exercise movement (with mixed results).
Now, they're hardly seen in just an athletic context. From the streets of Copenhagen Fashion Week to the wardrobes of It girls like Blackpink's Jennie and supermodel Paloma Elsesser, Vibram FiveFingers have lately become the so-ugly-it's-chic shoe of choice. Pairs range from a Mary Jane adjacent flat to low-cut ballerina sneaker, each with breathable, netted mesh uppers and defining sleeves for each toe. Lyst reports the line received a 110 percent boost in searches during Q2 this year. The V-sole flats landed between Miu Miu's boat shoes and Ancient Greek Sandals' jelly flats on the firm's ranking of the quarter's "Hottest Items."
In a fashion context, they look like viral Alaïa ballet flat went to a summer adventure camp and came back a little crunchier. The same cohort of well-dressed women as the initial Alaïas style them with jeans and summer dresses all the same. In a summer defined by luxury toe rings, $690 Dune sandals, and all-around naked shoes, Vibram FiveFingers' turn away from their earthy roots is not necessarily unexpected—but it still has the capacity to surprise.

"In New York, it’s hard to shock anyone, but I get the 'what is that?' factor," says Yana Bononi, founder of the creative agency Y2B. "There’s something about seeing the exact shape of a foot that pushes people’s comfort zones, and that tension makes them exciting."
She acquired her first pair at a customization event hosted by Caterina Mongillo, the upcycling designer at Metagirl, and has since styled them with everything from wide-leg jeans to romantic skirts. Mongillo, meanwhile, has been a fan for nearly three years. Her first secondhand pair of neoprene lake shoes sparked a search for sold-out, baby-pink V-Souls across sites like Vinted, Vestiaire Collective, and Poshmark (where they're often in short supply).
"From a fashion standpoint, I love that it goes with any outfit, from street to smart, because in the end it’s an extension of your own anatomy," she says. "I typically style my pair with knee-high ribbons blending into some capri pants, or paired with a cute balloon mini skirt. It evokes freedom and awakens the little wood fairy in me."
TikTok creator Melina Flores has styled her pairs as she would any other ballet flat since discovering them on the platform: with dresses, with denim, "the list goes on and on." For Flores, FiveFingers similarly bring a sense of whimsy to her grown-up wardrobe. "I loved running around barefoot as a child and I hoped these would deliver the nostalgia while being a practical everyday shoe," she says.

For all their newfound fans, there are still fashion people who don't quite understand the appeal. Marie Claire fashion features editor Emma Childs tells me a friend's Vibram FiveFingers purchase set off a heated debate among her friends at a recent dinner. When one pal said the shoes made "erognomics sexy," Childs had the opposite reaction: "It would be like her feet were topless" at the bar, she says.
They did challenge her outlook on shoe trends all the same. "It made me wonder if I've been brainwashed by a 'beauty is pain' mentality for too long," Childs says. "What's wrong with someone choosing a comfort-first shoe, even if it does give me the heebie jeebies?"
Flores understands why some shoppers might hesitate when they see ten toes caressing the sidewalk in mesh. "They’re not something that I was used to seeing out and about in my day to day life, so maybe that is where the discomfort from some people comes from—straying from the norm. I do believe the adverse reactions to them to be overblown," she adds.
Mongillo adds, "We are still in the early stages when it comes to fashion, so only pioneers and early adopters really understand it." She cites the Latin phrase De gustibus non est disputandum in her FiveFingers defense. "[It's a] phrase that says taste is personal and shouldn’t be subject to judgment, and I think it applies here," she explains. "The reactions are definitely overblown, in the end it’s the drama that makes fashion fun."
Some of FiveFingers' appeal seems to be the reactions non-believers have when they see them, anyway, Bononi says. "I love pairing them with wide-leg jeans so only the toes peek out—it’s such a fun, almost sneaky way to style them and watch people on the street do a double-take, like, Wait, am I seeing this right?"

In August 2024, fashion writer Liana Satenstein told subscribers to her newsletter, Never Worns, that the age of the Vibram shoe was only just beginning. "We will all be FiveFingered soon," she wrote.
A year later, stylish women are still adjusting to the idea of individually wrapping up their digits—but they're not totally opposed to them, either. "I’m not quite to the point of purchase yet," Khanmalek says. "But as with everything I once deemed unwearable, I’m sure I’ll get there soon." Meanwhile, the early FiveFingers adopters will be standing ten-toes down in their favorite shoes.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond opened up to the Mirror about the Duke of York's future within the Royal Family. "His best course of action is to lie low, enjoy the immensely privileged lifestyle he still has, embrace his family life, and do as his brother [King Charles] asks," Bond told the outlet.
Bond continued, "If he is still invited to family gatherings, he would do well to forgo the protocol of walking in order of precedence and fade quietly into the background. In other words: show a bit of humility, Andrew, because we haven't seen a shred of it yet."

As for whether or not Prince Andrew might lose his royal titles altogether, Bond isn't so sure. "He has already been sacked by his mother, stripped of his military appointments, and banned from using his HRH in any official capacity," the former royal correspondent explained.
Bond continued, "His brother, The King, has cut off his allowance and his security costs and wants him out of Royal Lodge. You could argue that he has already paid a hefty price. But opinion polls continue to show that he is deeply disliked, and the public wants to see him squirm."

Despite his plummeting popularity, Bond doesn't believe taking Andrew's royal titles is necessarily the right way to go. "I'm not sure that taking his dukedom away would serve any great purpose, other than making The King look particularly vindictive, and causing parliament to spend time on an issue that doesn't affect the rest of us," Bond explained.
]]>Diana's former private secretary, Patrick Jephson, told People, "If they study Princess Diana's life carefully—and I hope they often do—William, Harry, and their advisors will know that she left them many good examples to follow and also a few important warnings to heed. Public affection and the rich rewards of royalty must be earned with self-sacrifice and service."
Jephson continued, "I'm sure they are grateful that every day she can still guide, comfort, and inspire them along the difficult path they were born to follow."

As for whether or not William and Harry will ever mend their relationship, multiple royal experts weighed in. Royal author Robert Lacey told People, "The rift is very profound and very long-lasting. It will not be changed, in my opinion, until Harry makes a move and apologizes."
Historian Amanda Foreman seemingly concurred, telling the outlet, "Everyone wants it to happen on their terms, but that's what makes it impossible."

Despite the fact William and Harry are reportedly not talking to one another right now, they are allegedly united in one respect. Historian Foreman suggested that, when it comes to parenting and giving their children "authentic" childhoods, both brothers have inherited something that is "pure Diana." "The values they are instilling and discussing as families may be their best success," Foreman told the outlet. "They are both very good role models as parents."
]]>Rather than breaking up, Jenner and Chalamet are reportedly "making it work," and striving to ensure their long-distance relationship is a success. A source told People, "They haven't seen each other for a few weeks only because Timothée's been filming Dune in a studio in Budapest, and Kylie's been working too...She visited him in July."
The source elaborated, "But even though Kylie has a private jet, the flight is still 12 hours...She's a mom and she works as well. She has a lot of responsibilities." According to the source, Chalamet faces a "grueling" filming schedule while he's working, "with very little downtime" to entertain his girlfriend.

In spite of the distance between them, Jenner and Chalamet are "making it work," per People's source. "They FaceTime most days. They miss each other and are totally fine."

In July, the celeb couple spent a few days together in France, before Chalamet's Dune schedule ramped up. At the time, a source told People, "Kylie was really excited when he arrived in France." The source continued, "They only have a few days together before he starts filming in Prague...But they're used to this kind of schedule."
The magazine's source also suggested that the Kylie Cosmetics founder "will fly to see [Chalamet] when she can," showing just how committed she is to the relationship. As for the award-winning actor's priorities, the insider said he faced "a long, demanding shoot that will take [him] all over the world."
]]>Rather than making King Edward VIII's former residence of Fort Belvedere their home, the Prince and Princess of Wales have settled on Forest Lodge. The 8-bedroom property is situated within Windsor Great Park, and will provide more space for the family.
Speaking to the BBC, a royal source said, "Windsor has become their home. However, over the last few years while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage there have been some really difficult times." The source continued, "Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter...It's an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind."

According to the BBC, Kate and William "will not have any live-in staff as they focus on creating as private a family home as is possible." The publication also suggested that, when Prince William becomes king, the family will stay at Forest Lodge rather than moving to Buckingham Palace. Furthermore, Kate and William are reportedly "funding the move privately and they will pay market rent on the property," the BBC explained.

Before Kate and William move into Forest Lodge, a number of alterations are reportedly being made. "The works include replacing doors and windows, stripping out internal walls, renovating the ceilings, and replacing some floors," The Independent reported.
Since moving to Adelaide Cottage in 2022, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their family have faced a number of personal crises, including Kate's cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales has since completed chemotherapy treatment and has resumed her duties as a senior royal, making 2025 the ideal time to have a "fresh start" by moving into a new home.
]]>Collins is currently in Venice where she's been filming season 5 of Emily in Paris alongside co-star Ashley Park. The pair were photographed hopping on to one of Venice's iconic water taxis with their on-screen love interests, with Collins's character diving head first into the polka-dot trend.
With her hair tied back to reveal a pair of large, chunky gold hoop earrings, Collins was seen wearing a black and white polka-dot two-piece set. The set consisted of a calf-length flared skirt and a crop top with thick straps, both featuring a striking black and white polka-dot design. While it's unclear where the wardrobe department sourced the sleek matching set from, multiple brands have leaned into the exact same print this season.

Collins was also photographed filming a restaurant scene in the city, this time opting for a black and white polka-dot dress, with a matching scarf draped around her neck. A pair of long diamond drop earrings accessorized the on-trend dress, while the actress wore a dark red shade of lipstick.
The sleek dress appears to be Nina Ricci's Polka Dots Bustier Mini Dress, which retails for $1,535.

With Collins joining celebs like Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, and Kylie Jenner in embracing the polka-dot trend, it's clear the revived pattern isn't going anywhere.
]]>On August 14, one day before her 35th birthday, Lawrence was photographed climbing into a vehicle with her friends while wearing a comfy yet chic outfit. For clothing, the actress kept her look casual in a pair of dark green sweatpants and a baggy white T-shirt.
Instead of wearing her favorite The Row flip-flops, Lawrence chose a pair of Ugg Coquette Slippers, which retail for $130. Available in a series of different colors—including pink—Lawrence was seen wearing the brand's classic Chestnut color scheme.

The Joy actress completed her outfit with a Liffner Sisal Basket Bag in Black, which retails for $445. Although Lawrence's exact Liffner bag is getting trickier to track down, the silhouette has been a popular style during summer 2025. As a result, similar styles can be found at alternate retailers, for anyone hoping to replicate the actress's outfit.
Just as influencers, models, and celebrities have embraced the resurgent Ugg trend, summer 2025 has also seen a rise in popularity when it comes to the basket bag and bucket bag trends. While Jennifer Lopez was recently photographed carrying Prada's $2,200 Mini Wicker Bucket Bag, purses like The Row's $6,100 Brown Medium Woven N/S Tote have continually shown their enduring popularity, too.
Unsurprisingly, Lawrence's low-key outfit is right on-trend in every way.
I love my Pura just as much as the next person—in fact, it’s what I use in my home about 60 percent of the time. That other 40? Candles. Every and anywhere that I can fit them. There’s something so sensual about illuminating my apartment using just candle light. Not only does it set the most romantic ambiance, but the majority of the ones that I own are scented, so I am engulfed in the most delicious fragrance when I burn them.
As you’ve likely guessed, this means that my candle collection, while not as large as my perfume collection, is… let’s say extensive, so I know a thing or several about the best ones on the market. I’ll never apologize for being a girl with rather expensive taste, but I’ll forewarn that the majority, if not all, of my favorite candles fall on the more luxurious end of the spectrum. Now, ready to make sure that your home is a well-scented as you are? Keep reading to shop my favorite luxury candles.
Musk is one of my favorite perfume notes of all time, so when I thought about what the signature scent of my home should be, of course, I had to find the best musk candles on the market.

I feel like it’s not a very well-known fact that Drake (yes, that one) has a candle line, and every single one of them that I’ve tried is immaculate. Still, I have a clear favorite, and it’s Carby Musk. Lily of the valley, skin musk, and amber woods are some of the notes in this candle, but I must point out that it also has ambergris, which is one of the most expensive fragrance ingredients in the world. The combination of all of them blends into this sweet, floral, and clean scent that I am petitioning him to release in a full-sized eau de parfum formula immediately.

Hot take: Le Labo’s Ambroxide 17 is one of the best fragrance offerings from the brand, period. Yes, this is taking into consideration its traditional eau de parfum line as well. It’s like Another 13 in candle form, and if you’ve never tried that scent, that is to say it’s clean, musky, and a little sweet—i.e., my perfect fragrance profile.
Just like with my perfumes, I love a gourmand candle. These have incredible projection, but don’t smell too much like a dessert that’s been left out for too long. (True gourmand lovers know what I mean by this).

Vanilla lovers, your presence is requested. Voluspa’s Baltic Amber is equal parts vanillic and woody, thanks to notes like vanilla orchid, amber resin, and sandalwood. The combination is a mouthwateringly sweet scent that isn’t too cloying and a candle that can be lit year-round, regardless of the season.

Have you ever experienced the light airiness of the sugar that comes directly from sugar cane? That’s here, translated into candle form. Of course, sugar cane is combined with saffron, neroli, oak moss, and a few other notes to give my nose the pleasure of experiencing one of the most beautiful candle scents of all time. It smells like a certain well-known fragrance that may or may not have the number 540 in it, but I leave that up to your personal interpretation.
Fruity candles are a great way to add some bright and uplifting energy to your space, but I’ve searched a long time to find ones that don’t feel too overwhelmingly zesty or too citrus-forward. If you’re in the same boat, the ones below are the absolute best fruity candles.

Kyoto In Bloom has notes of fresh lime, bergamot, and citrus, and normally that wouldn’t make me look twice at this candle. However, those notes are flanked by others like amber, sandalwood, musk, and vanilla. The combination? An elegant citrus scent that I would douse my entire body in if I could.

Fig is the fruity note that stands out most to me in the candle, and it’s beautifully done. Glossier’s Sandstone also features sandalwood and clary sage, so it feels equal parts fruity, fresh, and woody. It’s one of the cleanest-smelling fruity candles I’ve ever gotten to sniff.
Woods are one of my favorite fragrance categories to explore, but sometimes they can lean a little too smoky. These ones are the perfect balance of fresh, earthy, and clean notes.

I came across this small, independently-owned business on Instagram, and its Mahogany + Teakwood candle was an immediate favorite. The lavender and geranium top notes pair beautifully with the woody base note, and the resulting scent is fresh, clean, and super unisex. It would be a fantastic addition to a housewarming gift or your at-home candle collection (because one sniff of this one and you’ll want to keep it all to yourself).

One of the best woody perfumes of all time, Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt, comes in candle form, and it smells just as good as the perfume. The name is an exact listing of the notes, so it feels like a pretty safe blind buy, but still, if you can’t get to a store to smell the candle in person, just head to your local Sephora to smell the perfume. It’s the same delicious, grounding scent.
The best floral candles, to me, don’t smell too much like a photo-realistic garden. Instead, they’re formulas that offer supporting notes to a central floral ingredient that allows it to truly shine without being overpowering.

I never thought I’d love a tuberose candle, but Versailles from Trudon proved me so wrong. Peonies and mint add a fresh and uplifting element to the candle’s scent profile, while honeysuckle, oak wood, and blue iris add a grounding, almost slightly gourmand element to the combination.

A true rose lover? Look no further for your new favorite candle than Diptyque’s Rose Candle. It has one fragrance note, Rose, and I love burning it in conjunction with my more woody perfumes for a more balanced fragrance overall. It’s almost like layering your perfumes, but the candle version. Invest in the 1500 gram multi-wick style and you'll be set for at least a year or two.

]]>The morning after the video dropped, Cardi's longtime nail tech, Coca Michelle, took to her Instagram Story to share a handful of behind-the-scenes videos and close-up photos of several of the manicures that the rapper wore in the video. One of the looks featured short, square-shaped nails that were painted with a black base and had emerald-cut gems glued to the top.

In another slide, Michelle shared a collage of two other nail looks. One was a medium-length almond manicure with a black base and white polka dots that were accented with what appears to be the Chanel logo. Another featured a photo of long, black stiletto nails with two curved white lines drawn across the middle of each nail. Judging by the photo, it's safe to assume that most of the looks were pre-painted by Michelle onto a set of tips before being applied when it was time to shoot.

But, of course, that's not where things stop. In another slide, Cardi is seen wearing a long, oval look that features teal nail polish with "melted gold" borders. The melted gold looks like it was achieved with 3D gel that was applied to the borders of the nails before they were either painted with a metallic gold polish or dipped in gold chrome powder. Either way, it looks both stunning and expensive.

Michelle shared a handful of other behind-the-scenes pics from the video, and to my surprise, some of the looks shown were outfits and glam that Cardi happened to also be wearing during her many appearances at Paris Couture Week last month.
Let's face it, Cardi B's nail looks will always be one-of-a-kind, but if you want to achieve at least somewhat similar that you can wear at home, shop a few must-haves ahead.

In a TikTok video of the cute moment, Princess Kate is seen talking to a group of mothers when one of their babies starts coughing. The Princess of Wales smiles broadly, and asks the baby if they're all right.
The response on TikTok was extremely positive, with a plethora of commenters praising Kate's demeanor when it comes to children and babies. "She's a real life Disney princess," one royal fan wrote. "Quite simply amazing," another commenter said. "Kate can do no wrong in my eyes! Such a caring person."

"She exudes kindness, elegance, and class," one TikTok user wrote. Another shared, "Just lovely, such a warm caring person and so down to earth."
One person commented, "Second a princess, first a mother." A fellow royal fan seemingly agreed, sharing, "Kate is the best thing that has ever happened to the Royal Family."

The video clip of Princess Kate has gained more attention in recent weeks, despite the royal's decision to take some time away from the spotlight over the summer. Nurturing her connection with royal fans in her absence, the Princess of Wales shared a video featuring idyllic nature scenes on Instagram. "Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship," she wrote in the caption. "It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature. Here's to summer."
]]>Her latest look consisted of a high ponytail, the ends of which swished elegantly behind her as she tackled the streets of New York City. The front of her hair was slicked back, and a deep side part gave her a perfect face-framing bang. The entire look was flyaway-free, so I presume that some styling stick was used to finish the look off.

Ponytails, like quite a few updos, are one of the workhorse styles of the hair world. Everything from the positioning of the pony to the texture of your hair when it’s in the updo can signal a completely different vibe. Its versatility is what makes it such a beloved classic, and Carthen isn’t the only celebrity who’s been loving the look. Tracee Ellis Ross has been spotted in both a blunt and cornrowed version of the hairstyle over the past few months. Regina King wore an elegant, braided version just 24 hours ago. Even Anne Hathaway wore a version inspired by AI a few months back.
As someone who didn’t get the “ability to do my hair” gene, I can attest that perfecting your ponytail skills not only takes patience and practice, but the right tools to make the process as seamless as possible. Keep reading for the tools and formulas that I recommend to get the ponytail that you deserve.

I'm a big fan of a multi-brush approach when it comes to ponytails. The first step should be detangling, like this one.

The second should be a "styling" brush, like this one, to help slick the style back, if that's the look you're going for.

Olandria's bang had a slight bump, so you can achieve a similar look with a curling iron like this one from Chi.
In case you're unfamiliar with the term, underpainting is the process of contouring and highlighting your features before applying foundation, instead of the other way around. While by no means new, celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips is synonymous with the phrase thanks to hundreds of viral videos testing the "Mary Philips underpainting technique." She's also been open about using underpainting on her A-list clients like Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner. With so much online attention, releasing a makeup brand with underpainting as the basis felt like a natural next step.
Enter: M.ph, Phillips' just-launched makeup line designed to enhance, sculpt, and define. Starting off, the brand includes the Lip Ciggy hydrating lipstick Balm, The Overliner lip pencil, and the star of the show, the Underpainting Face Palette, which comes in shades Light, Medium, and Dark (with more shades to come). The line also includes a brush—the Underpainting Dual-Ended Sculpting Brush—to seamlessly blend the shades together.
With all the tools needed to carve and sculpt, I was more than curious to see if M.ph could help me achieve the chiseled features of my dreams. The rest of the Marie Claire beauty team was just as intrigued, too. The general consensus after testing the line ourselves? Underpainting is the move.
Read on for Marie Claire's honest review of Mary Phillips' M.ph and to shop the line for yourself.

As I mentioned before, I don't tend to switch up my makeup, so I was a tad anxious to see how my basic application skills would fare with the Underpainting Palette. As the brand suggests, I applied a dab of color corrector (the first pan on the Underpainting Palette) directly to my undereyes using the small side of the dual-ended brush. Then, I swiped the first contour shade to the peaks of my cheekbones, temples, forehead, jawline, and sides of my nose. Lastly, I used the first highlighter shade even further under my eyes, under my cheekbones, and across my forehead. To top off my complexion, I lightly applied a layer of tinted sunscreen (my current favorite is Beauty of Joseon) all over the underpainting.
The results weren't quite as dramatic as I was hoping, but admittedly, I chalk that up to user error. I was a bit too light-handed applying my contour, so my sculpted cheekbones became more subdued after I applied my tinted sunscreen. However, it was nothing a little top-off couldn't fix. What impressed me most about the Underpainting Palette was its ultra-creamy formula. Every shade blended like a dream and could be built up easily, which are must-haves for underpainting novices like myself.
I also got the chance to try both M.ph lip products, and day I say, I may have found my new favorite lip liner in The Overliner. The pencil packs a punch of pigment, so I didn't need much work to line my lips. Its texture isn't too creamy or too stiff, so I was able to blend out the liner into a lasting plumper pout. The Lip Ciggy, which comes in the cutest pocket-size bullet, has a delectable formula, too, with a hydrating feel and a buildable, sheer wash of color.

Truth time: I rarely wear foundation. Chalk it up to laziness, a commitment to my skincare routine, or my love of a quick and easy skin tint, but it made me a little hesitant to jump into the underpainting pool. Still, when presented with the opportunity to look like Mary Phillips did my makeup? I was bursting at the seams to get my hands on this palette. Truth be told, it was the dual-ended brush that earned the first squeal, but the ultra creamy formula did impress me just as much after the first swipe. The color-corrector shade was ideal for my skin tone to erase any evidence of dark circles (courtesy of a rather sleepless night in my too-hot apartment) but the highlighter shade didn't quite deliver the level of dewy glowy I crave in this type of product. I understand the method with underpainting, but for my personal cosmetics aesthetic, it wasn't really my cup of tea. The contour though? My cheekbones could definitely cut glass after painting that onto the hollows of my face. I'm not skilled enough to use it around my nose or jawline but if that's your jam, this would probably be a new go-to product for you.

I'll be honest: after the underpainting craze passed last year, I stopped doing my makeup in reverse. But this gorgeous palette reminded me just how much I love the technique. The contour shades are so creamy and blend seamlessly. I just put a little Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter on top and it diffuses everything perfectly—no harsh lines or weird, blotchy gradients. And a special shoutout to the m.ph brush, which is quite literally my new favorite item—ever.

I love a fuller-coverage base, but my trick is keeping it looking natural with lightweight layers. Underpainting didn’t seem like my thing—until Mary Phillips, the queen of makeup, launched her line. I couldn’t resist. I tried the light palette since my vacation tan is fading (I usually go medium in summer). The shades are insanely creamy and blendable, and a little goes a long way. I layered concealer first, then the cream before my skin tint. For cheekbones, I used the second-darkest shade with a hint of gray, and the darkest warm shade around the face perimeter for a subtle bronze. She nailed it. I’m picky about contour, and this formula hits every note.

Contouring and underpainting are two makeup techniques that I've never quite taken the time to learn, since the thought of doing both has always intimidated me. I can appreciate the fact that this palette makes it pretty simple for beginners to at least try their hand at it. I applied one of the highlight shades under my eyes, and I think it did a stellar job of concealing the redness under there. I also love the consistency—the creams are so soft, and while I do feel like the product glides on and blends pretty well, I never felt like I was applying too much since it's still easy to control how much you want to put on at once. The dual-sided brush is also so helpful to have.

Underpainting scares me, but when Mary Phillips comes out with a brand dedicated to the practice, I simply had to try it out. I love everything about the packaging of the product and the accompanying brush. They’re both super sleek and easy to store, perfect for someone who, candidly, has a lot of stuff. That being said, I’ve run into the same issue that I have with most brands when it comes to complexion products: the deep palette is too deep, but the medium is too light, so I had to use this palette more like a foundation and bronzer palette, which I actually didn’t mind. That being said, Phillips has mentioned that additional shades of the palette are on the way, so I’ll likely pick up one of those to really give underpainting a go.

]]>In an interview with French newspaper Ouest-France (via Monaco Tribune), Princess Charlene opened up about the tragic loss she endured as a child when her young cousin died. "Richard drowned in a river, very close to my uncle's house," Charlene said of the horrifying incident. "He was only 5 years old. It was devastating for our whole family. I don't think that kind of pain ever really goes away."
Noting that bodies of water can "be merciless," Charlene explained that learning to swim is the "best protection" we have. The former Olympic swimmer also shared her hope that, one day, swimming would become known as "a fundamental right, just like learning to read." The royal further explained that she was "deeply concerned by the sharp rise in the number of drownings."

Explaining that not everyone has the same access to resources such as swimming lessons, Prince Albert's wife hopes that future initiatives will overcome any financial and class barriers that exist. "Cost should never be a barrier to acquiring a life-saving skill," Princess Charlene told the outlet.

Along with teaching all children to swim, Princess Charlene revealed that she wants to encourage more people to train as lifeguards, believing that those in positions of power can instill "confidence, respect for the water, and the right reactions" in others.
Having experienced such a tragic event in her youth, Princess Charlene believes that "vigilance is still necessary," as "nowhere is totally safe" when it comes to the dangers of water. She's also keen to "take the fight beyond our borders," and hopes that, via the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, she'll be able to help save more lives.

Loose curls were then added, giving the look extra bounce that felt so glamorous, especially when contrasted with the more masculine suit. A deep side part added bangs to the look, which made it even more flirty and chic.

Ross has never been one to shy away from experimenting with her hairstyles, especially as the owner of her own hair-care brand, Pattern Beauty. She’s been seen with everything from a blunt ponytail to cornrows. She's even managed to blend her love of beauty and fashion after being spotted in a hairstyle that features netted accessories, a perfect take on the fisherman aesthetic currently sweeping street style outfits all over the world.
I love a bouncy blowout moment, especially when I can wear my hair in its natural state during the process. The look is super easy to achieve at home, so keep reading for the tools and products you should pick up if you want to recreate it.

My hair tends to be a bit dry, so I usually do an afro hairstyle right after wash day, when I've used all my hydrating conditioners and treatments.

A traditional hair dryer and round brush can give you a similar look to Ross's.

Round brushes like this one also work as a two-in-one for an easy blowout.
The Grammy winner stashed her guests' phones before playing all twelve songs on the record, beginning with "Manchild." (It's a spoiler-proof security measure.) She looked like she'd walked off the music video's set in a nostalgic, button-down dress. Its designer, like the new songs, remains a mystery. The cardigan-ish bodice, micro-mini skirt, and tweed texture felt so Chanel-coded, however. Carpenter and her stylist, Jared Ellner, sourced vintage Dolce & Gabbana for the risqué cover, so an archival piece isn't out of the question.

The A-lister's Instagram filter suggested her dress was butter yellow (a signature shade in her feminine, '60s-inspired aesthetic). But after careful inspection, the long-sleeve look revealed itself as stark white with gold cascading buttons.
Her accessories were as under-wraps as the music, with only a few photos making it out of the vevent. Knowing Carpenter, she popped on sky-high platform pumps. If you look closely enough, you'll see a beaded top-handle bag sitting atop the mixing board. It appeared to share an ivory, bubbled exterior with Carpenter's dress.

While their wardrobes couldn't be more different, a shared "Secret Sessions" experience feels right up Swift and Carpenter's alley. The "Espresso" singer opened for Swift on the Eras Tour from August 2023 until March 2024. This fall, Carpenter will be a featured vocalist on The Life of a Showgirl's title track.
Back in the day, Swift's listening parties looked similar to Carpenter's. When she hosted 1989 sessions in London, Nashville, New York City, and Rhode Island in 2014, she rotated between pleated mini skirts and LBDs. Before Reputation dropped in November 2017, she did it again—this time, while wearing grungy camouflage and Valentino lace-up boots. For the final "Secret Session" in August 2019, the pop star channeled Lover-core in a romantic Free People set and Gucci espadrille sandals.
Today, I'm feeling as much FOMO now as I did during Swift's Lover era. I have a message for Sabrina Carpenter: If you host another session, please save me a seat—or at least tell me where you found your dress.
Sure, you probably already know about classic black styles or even ones that come in a funky, ‘70s-inspired croc print. But what about the sky-high platform styles that nearly broke the internet (and a few ankles) when they debuted at Gucci earlier this year? They’re one of fall’s biggest shoe trends, as are grandpa-core tasseled loafers—another controversial trend that fashion insiders have already co-signed for fall.
If you’re ready to ditch your sneakers (and your sandals, for that matter), keep reading. Below, I’ve chronicled the must-have loafer trends you can invest in now and style to perfection over the next four months.

Suede trends every fall, but this year, everyone is obsessed with suede loafers in particular. It's easy to see why. The forgiving fabric is less blister-prone than traditional leather and wears better over time to perfectly fit your foot. Plus, some of the styles here are basically just fall-ified versions of summer's boat shoe trend, proving that preppy styles are here to stay.

Less of a trend and more of worthwhile investment, black loafers are everywhere right now. If you haven't picked up a pair for yourself, consider any of the incredibly chic styles below. Some come in a nightime-friendly patent leather fabrication, while others prove that sticking to the basics works best.

Croc print is so subtle, you might not even notice it's there—but thats the point. It offers eagle-eyed shoppers a little something special compared to the rest of the finds on this list. No matter which shade you end up choosing, they give your outfits a cool retro flare.

File this style under: the perfect transitional shoe trend. Loafer mules offer you the flexibility of a sandal without having to expose your toes to the gritty streets, and allow you to accessorize with a chunky sock once the weather cools.

Call your grandpa and ask if it's okay to borrow his loafers—tassels are back for fall. Go all-out old man with a pair of chunky socks and a thick sweater, or play tap into the wrong shoe theory by teaming a pair of chunky loafers with a sweet dress.

If Bella Hadid is already a fan of a shoe, I know I should at least consider trying it for fall. Case in point: her love of platform loafers. She recently wore a pair in New York, so I would prepare to see them everywhere this season.

In another moment in the season 2 trailer for With Love, Meghan, Prince Harry's wife is shown wearing a burgundy sweater from French It-girl label Sézane.
The $145 Merino wool sweater is available in a multitude of shades, and Meghan opted for burgundy, which is giving total autumnal vibes.
The Princess of Wales wore the very same crew neck sweater, which features statement buttons on its sleeves, in a natural shade during a visit to Nottingham Trent University in October 2023.

With Love, Meghan is returning for a second season and a holiday special in 2025. In its first trailer, Duchess Meghan wears a selection of enviable summer dresses, including the sadly sold-out Veronica Beard Blige Stripe A-Line Midi Dress.
Additional items worn by the Duchess of Sussex in season 2 of With Love, Meghan include a Heidi Merrick "Finny" Cardigan, a Carolina Herrera Floral Scoop Neck Midi Dress With Sash (in a sold-out print), and Saint Laurent's Tribute Mules in Smooth Leather.
]]>On Aug. 14, Blunt was spotted on set in New York City wearing a red and black striped, Coach sweater with a black miniskirt and sheer tights. While her outfit was a whole look, for obvious reasons, I couldn't take my eyes off of her icy blonde lob, which she paired with cherry red nails and bright red lipstick. Upon first glance, I assumed she was wearing a very realistic-looking wig with dark roots to make it appear more natural, but after looking a little closer, I'm convinced that Blunt may have fully committed to the character and made a full switch to blonde hair for the movie.

Blunt's hair has undergone quite the transformation over the last few weeks. Before stepping out with her copper red hair back in July, her hair was a much darker brunette color. To say that her new platinum blonde color is unexpected is an understatement, but not only does she pull it off really well, it's making me so much more excited to see the film when it officially premieres next year.
If you're taking this as a sign to follow in Blunt's footsteps and also try out a shade of blonde, your best bet is to have your hair lightened or bleached by a professional, but the maintenance should be easy enough for you to handle at home. Read ahead to shop some blonde hair must-haves.

Whether your hair is blonde all over or you're just maintaining some fresh highlights, this color-enhancing shampoo will help you prevent (and get rid of) brassiness.

Redken's lineup of color-care products is pretty next-level, and this purple shampoo is a fan favorite since it removes brassiness while still keeping your blonde looking fresh and bright.

Moisturizing hyaluronic acid is the star ingredient of this conditioner, which hydrates bleached, colored, and lightened hair while also addressing damage and split ends.

For hair that's a bit worn down by bleach and chemicals, this bonding treatment helps to strengthen your strands from the inside out with a special, patented peptide technology.
Blunt's character, Emily Charlton, has been spotted far less than Hathaway, so her style arc remains somewhat of a mystery. However, her endorsement of the Coach renaissance proves she's up with the times. In between takes, Blunt was papped in a striped intarsia sweater, featuring a hand-knit Big Apple in the center. Is the Londoner trying to fit into New York's street style scene? A black button-down peeked out from underneath a chainlink tie in silver to match Emily's jewels.
At first, I had to do a double take: I didn't recognize Emily without her signature red hair. A bold red lip and monogrammed Dior sunglasses also helped conceal her identity. Though, custom Coach and a leather mini skirt isn't exactly an average New Yorker's uniform.

A few hours later, Blunt exited her trailer in the same Coach long-sleeve. This time, she swapped the mini skirt for crimson red trousers straight out of Jennifer Lawrence's closet. Her ankle boots also disappeared, making way for chunky white sneakers—presumably the Axel Arigato trainers Blunt wore on set in July. She's certainly no Miranda Priestly, but her Prada shoulder bag felt right up the ferocious editor-in-chief's alley.

Coach made its The Devil Wears Prada 2 debut on Andy Sachs's shoulder in late July. Hathaway proved she's in on Coach's comeback with a vintage Metropolitan Briefcase. The top-flap, leather buckled messenger initially released in 1987, but in the 2025 sequel, it resurfaced as Andy's laptop bag. The beloved brand recently revived Hathaway's exact style, re-listing it for $895.

With Andy and Emily's approval, I wouldn't be surprised if Miranda tries Bella Hadid's Brooklyn Bag next.
The most popular styles follow a similar silhouette. They have a drawstring at the waist and a simple, straight fit through the leg, hitting just at the top of your foot. Most commonly found in neutral autumnal shades like black, cream, or olive green, they also serve as the ideal wear-everywhere, end-of-summer foundational find. And since they're just as breathable as linen, they work well for the transitional period, when the temperature hovers in the mid-eighties. I personally plan on styling them with my usual rotation of oversized knits for an upscale and elevated play on sweatpants this winter.
Ahead, I found a few pairs from all of my favorite brands that I have my eye on. One (or two, or three) of these is sure to end up in my closet over the next few months, and they should find a home in yours, too.

Quince is the brand on every insider's lips right now.

I own two pairs of the Olina pants in linen, so these immediately caught my eye

Of course J.Crew's fall collection includes the perfect pair of silk pants

I love this chocolate brown hue.

Jennifer Lawrence's favorite Colby pants come in silk, in case you were wondering.

Hailey Bieber is a huge Leset fan, and now I am, too.

Yes, these are technically pajama pants, but they're too chic to keep indoors.
"Falsehoods surrounding Princess Anne have mistakenly been issued by Buckingham Palace in celebration of the royal's 75th birthday," The Sun reported. Describing the obvious mistake as "embarrassing," the outlet shared that Buckingham Palace had posted an article containing "75 facts" about Anne in honor of her milestone birthday. Unfortunately, one of the entries claimed "Princess Anne had two stepchildren from her second marriage to Sir Timothy Laurence, called Tom and Amy Laurence."
While the Princess Royal shares two children—Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall—with her first husband, ex Mark Phillips, Laurence had no children prior to marrying Anne in 1992 and becoming a stepdad to her kids.

According to The Sun, the incorrect information about Princess Anne "was taken down from the website shortly after royal fans were quick to point it out."
After Buckingham Palace shared the false trivia about Princess Anne, royal fans reportedly began to suggest that the creator might have used AI to compile the list. "AI doesn't normally give you additional children," one X user joked. Another royal fan commented, "Bizarre. Commander Sir Tim Laurence was never married before marrying Princess Anne and has no children, legitimate or hidden. This must be an AI mistake."

According to Daily Mail, a source from the palace denied the use of AI. "The facts were checked, and that one was a late addition, sourced from a reputable publication online, which unfortunately wasn't put back through the checking process," the source said. "There was no AI sourcing on our part."

From singers who love to perform in vintage (SZA) to actors who rewear their favorite gowns on the red carpet (Winona Ryder) and celebrities who exclusively shop vintage while traveling (Helen Mirren), these are some of the many celebrities who have spoken openly about their love for thrifting.

Paloma Elsesser is famously obsessed with vintage and archive fashion. In 2020, she said, "In general, I've never really bought fast fashion, I've always tried to shop vintage and thrift by default—mostly because that was all I could afford growing up—and I try not to buy and wear things that are just trend-driven."

To say that Aya Cash loves thrifting is a serious understatement. “When I get a job in a small town, the first thing I do is look up the thrift shops. Even if I only have one day off, I will choose thrifting over sleep.” she told the Only Thrifting podcast.

Jada Pinkett Smith and her children Jaden and Willow have all been bitten by the thrifting bug. Jada and Willow have been spotted at secondhand stores. Jaden has even said, "Thrifting, repairing and patching of clothing is the future...People are going to realise that thrifting is amazing for so many different reasons and so many different styles of clothing."

In an interview with Complex, Miguel said that he uses local thrifting from his hometown as inspiration, not just for clothing designs for his brand, but also to "tell my story." He talked about hunting around for amazing vintage finds—finding that treasure, in other words.

Emma Watson has been on the sustainable fashion bandwagon long before it was mainstream. In 2020, she partnered with thredUP on their Fashion Footprint Calculator. "Small changes, such as thrifting instead of buying new, supporting sustainable brands, and air-drying your clothes, can make a HUGE difference," she noted on Instagram.

In 2024, Shailene Woodley shared all about her secondhand habits. "“Everything, apart from the socks I’m wearing, is secondhand...and there’s wonderful companies now like The RealReal where you can find incredible pieces and then also sell them back. And it creates this really fun system to interact with.”

Zooey Deschanel told Lucky Magazine in 2014 that she thrifted prom dresses as a teen. "There's a picture of me I wish I could find. I would buy these big, cheap, fluffy '50s prom dresses from thrift stores and just put them on with a tiara and sit and type at my computer," she said. "My room was a total messy-teenager disaster area, but I'd have on a vintage dress and my hair would be perfect."

Florence Welch noted in 2010 that her flowy style includes secondhand pieces. "[My] aesthetic came along the way, I think—just through experimenting, and going on tour, and trying stuff out on stage, having fun with it, and not taking it too seriously. If I had a ballgown at home, I'd wear it onstage. If I found something in a charity shop, I'd wear it."

Lots of celebrities love thrifting, but fewer of them write hit songs about it. Macklemore's hit song "Thrift Shop" was all about the practice, and he later said, "I love thrift shopping. It is something that has been a part of my life since I was a young kid and it's outside of the box [for the genre]."

Speaking to Teen Vogue in 2013, Lorde explained, "I love thrift shopping. You can get ten things because everything costs, like, three dollars. I feel weird spending money on myself—my first big purchase will be a double bed!...I like simple clothes, but sometimes I'll go for a goth-witch vibe."

In 2021, Sienna Miller was even the face of Oxfam’s Second Hand September and noted at the time that "choosing second-hand fashion can be kinder for our planet. These small changes can make a huge difference. And rooting around in a charity shop is like hunting for treasure. Be a magpie!"

Jennifer Aniston has even worn secondhand on the red carpet (including a vintage 1999 Christian Dior gown to the 2020 SAG Awards). She nabbed clothes from the Friends set and wore them in her personal life; in 2020, she said, "Some of my favorite shirts are the ones rescued from my mother's closet."

Kylie Minogue is apparently a fan of upcycling (repurposing an old pair of pants as a skirt on Instagram), donation (giving some of her wardrobe to Oxfam), and thrifting (shopping at the Salvation Army store in Melbourne). Her gold pants in "Spinning Around" were thrifted!

According to Vogue, Drew Barrymore went through a sustainability awakening in 2019. "I’ve always loved a flea market or a thrift store off the beaten path, and now the internet has made it even easier to find one-of-a-kind gems not just around the country but around the world. I still buy a lot of furniture, lamps, and art at the thrift store...but I’d say predominantly what I buy is vintage clothes, and I’ve started buying a lot of my kids’ clothes on thredUP too."

Timothée Chalamet's most notable instance of secondhand clothes was a (literally) famous one: during his promotion for playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, he wore a vintage Levi's jacket that belonged to Dylan. The actor bought it at auction for $25,400.

Referring to thrifting as a "giant warehouse filled with endless possibilities," Billie Eilish has said that she defined her personal style through thrifting. She also, like others on this list, takes her secondhand finds to the red carpet and proudly rewears them, too.

In keeping with her nature-inspired aesthetic, Björk supports sustainable fashion. In 2007, she noted that she does enjoy non-thrift shopping. “I like it! But it really exhaust me. I get highs, to be totally honest, in second-hand shops. My hunting instinct, I expect, really kicks in.”

In 2017 to promote her movie Colossal, Anne Hathaway went on Good Morning America to explain to Robin Roberts, “This is a $15 flea market dress...I’m trying to be more sustainable with my fashion choices, so I’m trying to wear vintage wherever I can.”

Eva Mendes attended her first premiere in “a $6 dress from Goodwill. I’ve always loved a cheap find. Viva thrift shops!” She told People she feels like an archaeologist when shopping secondhand. “I can feel when there’s a little something, you know, where there’s gold in the hills, and I really zero in. That’s the fun part for me.”

Kate Moss has long been a fan of secondhand shopping. She told Glamour to "look for quality pieces that can be repaired if needed," and explained to The Guardian, "I just go with my first instincts when I see something I like. It doesn’t matter to me the designer or the era, just that the item appeals to me and looks good when I try it on."

Olivia Rodrigo is an advocate for sustainable shopping. She's worn some truly incredible archival pieces (particularly couture from the '90s) but she also incorporates vintage into her daily life—even telling Vogue she visits thrift stores on tour and shops online, too.

In an interview in 2013, Debbie Harry confessed that she still thrifts, adding that she's done it at various points in her life, including when she didn't have a ton of money. “In a way it’s a sense of adventure, too, because you’re not walking in and seeing a rack of clothing,” she said. “You have to go in and hunt, and it can be very entertaining.”

SZA performs in vintage tees, noting, "You know how when you go to thrift stores and you go to the front there will be three shirts above the register that are way too expensive but way too cool? Way cooler than anything in the whole damn store? So that’s exactly what happened: I started buying those. Then I’d just be skimming the racks and find some hot shit, and be like, ‘Whoa! No one was paying attention!’ and you take it home, and then the next thing you know you have a hat and some very old shirts. And now I’m here!”

Meghan Markle is a fan of sustainable and ethical brands, and she's also a fan of the "royal rewear" (wherein royals rewear their outfits to other events). She's also been seen wearing couture vintage clothing, including a Dior coat to a christening and a Courrèges coat in New York.

When asked about her shopping habits by Harper's Bazaar, Zoë Kravitz noted, “If I’m shopping, I really like Assembly New York on the Lower East Side, Catbird in Brooklyn, or Love Adorned in NoLita, which sells vintage jewelry and beautiful things for your house. There are fewer and fewer cool vintage stores now, unfortunately, but there’s a good one called Stock, on East 13th Street.”

In 2010, Helen Mirren shared an incredible thrifting tip: “I love a good charity shop, especially when I’m travelling. When I’m going to cold places, I take nothing—just underwear. On my way from the airport, I ask the driver to take me to a good charity shop, and I buy boots, socks, trousers, jumpers, sweaters, hats and scarves—usually for £30...On the way back to the airport, I [heave] it all in a big bag and drop it off at another charity shop.”

Like others on this list, Zendaya has worn stunning, one-of-a-kind archival pieces on the red carpet. Her designer Law Roach has used vintage pieces since she was a young starlet, and she wears vintage to events like the Green Carpet Fashion Awards.

Sarah Jessica Parker buys vintage not only for herself but for her children. She also noted that during the HBO series Divorce, all her clothes were sourced secondhand, whether they be from flea markets, vintage stores, or online marketplaces like eBay.

On her website in 2013, Tracee Ellis Ross raved about thrifting: “I buy a lot of vintage because, well, it’s AMAZING! And truthfully you can get great stuff for not a lot of money. I have a passion for vintage clothing because of the quality and uniqueness of the pieces (you don’t really have to worry about showing up in the same outfit as someone else).”

Thrift stores are apparently Janelle Monáe's "vice": "I used to spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars [at thrift stores]—and this wasn't even when I was making thousands, I didn't even have $1,000 probably," they said. "If I've got $500, I was spending half of it in the thrift store, and I wasn't saving my money."

Julia Roberts has been spotted thrifting—for herself and her kids—near their ranch in New Mexico. A source even noted, "She'll go anywhere in search of a great deal. She's been known to travel all the way to Tucson for a weekend of shopping at secondhand stores."

In 2014, Winona Ryder gave iconic shopping advice: “Most of my wardrobe is vintage and I’ve worn dresses to the Oscars that I got for $10. At Sean Penn’s last Haiti gala I wore this vintage dress that I’d worn to a film premiere in 2005. I know that’s kind of a no-no in the fashion world, but why wear something just once if you love it?”

Princess Kate and Prince William shared a tribute on their Instagram Stories on August 15, saying, "Today, on the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of all who served."
The message continued, "Today we especially think of those British and Commonwealth troops who fought in the Asia-Pacific. We owe an enduring debt to the generation who gave so much, and to whom we will always be grateful. Lest we forget. W & C."

On Wednesday, August 13, Kate Middleton shared an inspiring Instagram post focused on nature in the summer season. "Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship," Princess Kate captioned the video, which showcased idyllic scenery. "It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature. Here's to summer."
The Princess of Wales also narrated the video footage, saying, "Summer is the season for abundance. Just as the flowers bloom and the fruits ripen, we too are reminded of our own potential for growth. It is the time to ignite our inner fire and explore our own creativity, passions, and dreams."
Kate's narration continued, "As we bask in the sunlit hours, friends and families come together—playing, connecting, being present, embracing the joy to be found in even the most fleeting moments and shared experiences." Finally, the princess explained, "Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship, so open your hearts, sing, dance, play. The days are still long, so simply love and be loved."
Although Princess Kate and Prince William seem to be taking some much-needed time out of the spotlight, they continue to build their connection with the public via social media.

The duo got their hands on Look 26 from Valentino Resort 2026, starring a black fur coat lined with ivory shearling. Next, Ortega followed the brand's directive, coupling the statement topper with the black Valentino Panthea. The nappa leather bag is defined by a chevron pattern, studded straps, and the metal "V" emblem. Ortega carried it by the hardware-coated handle, while the chainlink counterpart dangled below. To finish, the 22-year-old re-wore lace-up boots from Miista, days after she paired them with a satin Ann Demeulemeester slip.

Ortega's callouts to the Resort 2026 set stopped when she layered a satin nightgown underneath. (It's hiding underneath her fabulous fur.) In Valentino imagery, however, the model wore it with a white-and-black mini, plus lace green tights. A leather beret matched the matte exterior of the Panthea. To finish, brown pointy boots gave the look an unexpected, yet welcome rodeo-ready flair.

The Valentino Panthea practically became an It bag overnight, thanks to Anne Hathaway on July 21. While filming The Devil Wears Prada 2, the Oscar winner put the zip-top, Swarovski crystal-embellished tote on everyone's radars, including Rihanna. Not even a week later, fashion enthusiasts spotted it in Dua Lipa's Instagram story.

On August 4, Rihanna boarded the bandwagon for dinner at her favorite Italian restaurant, Giorgio Baldi. Instead of Ortega and Hathaway's all-black colorway, RiRi secured the snakeskin option from Fall 2025. She leaned into the trending animal print's autumnal aura with a fur stole, baggy jeans, and a baby bump-hugging crewneck.

Fast forward to August 13, and another Valentino Panthea made it on Bella Hadid's arm. While celebrating the launch of her Orêbella perfume, the supermodel showcased her newest find alongside a short-sleeve LBD and matching Le Silla pumps.

And just like that, the Valentino Panthea is no longer a trend, but a full-blown favorite among fashion girls.
Camilla and Charles attended a ceremony at the National Memorial Arboretum in England, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. 105-year-old veteran Captain Yavar Abbas took to the podium during the ceremony, where he delivered an unexpectedly personal message to King Charles.
Abbas told the crowd (via People), "Before I read the excerpt, I make due apologies for briefly going off the script to salute my brave King who is here with his beloved Queen in spite of the fact that he's under treatment for cancer."

Abbas was a member of the 11th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army, and revealed to the crowd that he is also a survivor of cancer, People reported. Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Abbas read an excerpt from his own war diary, written on February 8, 1945. "Tomorrow, I hope I will live to do better things," he said. "I could have been dead twice before, but I'm still living. I would be surprised if I get a life for a third time. May God spare me."

The Daily Mail's royal editor, Rebecca English, shared footage of The King meeting Abbas after the ceremony. English captioned her post on X, "Really sweet moment as King Charles meets Yavar Abbas...after #VJ80 Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum today."

Around mid-afternoon, she swapped a snakeskin Ludovic de Saint Sernin dress and heels for sweatpants and Puma Speedcat sneakers. Until this summer, she'd been a Adidas Sambas supporter through and through, rotating between five pairs. In June, however, she made the switch to Puma, starting with Rihanna's signature $90 Speedcats in black with white stripes.
Marking her second Puma-clad set, Turner paired the suede, retro-looking slim sneakers with lounge pants and a gray Akimbo hoodie. The same oversize sunglasses from hours earlier made another appearance.

Now, a moment for Turner's "high" qualifier: a rare Louis Vuitton carry-all she's owned since May 2018. The limited-edition find debuted in an April 2017 collaboration with Jeff Koons,an artist known for his balloon dog sculpture. The 40-piece collection featured classic Louis Vuitton luggage topped with paintings produced by Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Peter Paul Rubens, and more.
Turner owns the Louis Vuitton x Jeff Koons Speedy 30, which boasts a hand-painted reimagining of Édouard Manet's "Luncheon on the Grass" circa 1862. Trademark house codes, including the iconic "LV" logo, stretch from the duffel-shaped body to the turquoise side-walls. The top-handles, crossbody strap, and zip closure matched the turquoise tint. In 2017, it retailed for $2,800, but now, it's hard to find for under $5,000.
With her brand ambassador status, it's no surprise Turner got her hands on the collector's item. She's clearly following Rihanna's lead, in terms of styling the Speedy 30. Turner almost always wears it with loungewear while traveling. Last month, she styled a near-identical look around her Louis Vuitton duffel. The only difference? She swapped out Puma Speedcats for her trusty Adidas Sambas.

With her Trust press tour in full swing, Turner's Speedy 30 will likely see the world in the coming days. Stay tuned to see if her Rihanna inspired sneakers keep pace, or if she returns to her signature Sambas.
I found the answer staring back at me as I packed for my first Copenhagen Fashion Week: my pile of thrifted $1 ties.
As I started planning outfits, I had so much fun playing around with different ways to style vintage ties alongside my genius celebrity stylist friend, Olivia Rose. Perfect, I thought. A little unexpected. A little menswear moment.
As it turns out, I wasn't the only one on this styling wavelength. Vintage ties were everywhere in Copenhagen street style this season—worn in so many inventive ways that made me wish I’d thought of them first. And yet, in some ways I was glad others got a head-start, because they proved how versatile this business-classic accessory can really be.

Ties are kind of like leopard print: forever cool, but with waves of "It" status. Ahead, I'm sharing five easy ways to incorporate them into your own fall wardrobe, inspired by the best looks I saw in Copenhagen. When you're done reading, rummage through your dad’s closet or local thrift shop while you can, and get ready to knot, bow, tuck, and pin your favorite ties all fall long.

Amid the chaos of packing, I wanted to zhuzh up a simple denim set. One tie wrapped around the waist felt promising. I added a few more for color, shifted the placement around, and suddenly, I had a colorful, new look that felt purposeful.

Model and activist Lauren Wasser stopped me in my tracks with this look that immediately went on my Pinterest board. The “skirt” was actually two men’s button-down shirts, ingeniously connected into one. She also pinned ties here and there for extra attitude.

There’s something eternally powerful about a woman in a tie. Think tailored suit and sleek hair…or the angsty Avril Lavigne look that defined an era (and now has me thinking about arm socks next). My current favorite TikToker, Dylan Kelly, explains Jonathan Anderson's recent spin on tie styling for Dior so well. It made me immediately want to try to style a tie over just one of my collars in my own way, with a ruffled tulle skirt.

Mostly because I couldn’t find a matching scarf, I tried tying a vintage tie backwards like a choker, the knot perfectly done at the nape. Then, I layered a chunky necklace for drama, letting the tie hang long down the back. Instantly chic.

Sitting across from me at the Iamisigo show was this colorful, friendly face with a red tie knotted into a bow on top of her head. Naturally, I asked to snap a photo. It was effortless and just the right amount of messy: a refreshing twist on the bow trend I’d never really embraced until now.
]]>Unlike her older brother King Charles, who was a sensitive and bookish child, the Princess Royal shared Prince Philip's brisk, outdoorsy spirit. As Majesty magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward wrote in a 2017 piece for the Daily Mail, "Single-minded, sporty and brave, Princess Anne is unafraid of controversy and cares little for the opinion of others. In other words, she is very much her father's daughter—in a way that Prince Charles can never be his father's son."
Eileen Parker, whose husband, Mike Parker, was a friend of Prince Philip's, told Seward that the late duke "always had more fun with Anne," adding "Charles is more like The Queen, while Anne is very like Prince Philip."

While Prince Philip spent time outdoors with all of his children, he's said to have shared more interests with the Princess Royal than he did with his eldest son, Charles. From an early age, Anne enjoyed pursuits like riding, camping and sailing with her father, and the two bonded over their dry sense of humor and a mutual disdain for fuss.
While royal fans might assume that it was lifelong equestrian Queen Elizabeth who encouraged her daughter to ride, it was actually Prince Philip who was instrumental in jump-starting Anne's athletic career (no pun intended). Seward wrote that "Philip had no reservations about letting his daughter expose herself to the dangers inherent in equestrian sport," adding that one observer said, "It was almost as if he treated her as a son."

"Charles was still at the end of a leading rein when Anne was already jumping," Seward wrote of the siblings. "She was also galloping before she'd properly learned how to trot." Seeing how naturally talented she was at riding, Prince Philip saw that Anne received the best training, culminating in her becoming the first member of the Royal Family to compete in the Olympic Games.
Years later, Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, would go on to win silver for eventing in the 2012 Olympics—and her medal was presented by none other than her mom.
Noting that The King "was a poor athlete" as a child, Seward wrote that Prince Philip taught the Princess Royal how to sail "with considerably more success than he'd had with Charles—who was seasick and didn't respond well either to the hearty disciplines of life on board or being shouted at by his father."

I’m sure I’m not the only one who noticed that, especially in the streets of NYC, the hottest accessory of the season was the bum. Yes, I’m talking about a little bit of booty, best accentuated by a statement of a pair of undies peeking out from a see-through bottom.
For years, I’ve been a fan of subtly showing off my undergarments, especially when juxtaposed with a very serious top or a traditional fabric like lace. But this past summer, I’ve noticed translucent, cheeky bottoms—and a widespread naked dressing trend, in general—pop up in the mainstream.

Leading this revolution for me was Barcelona-based designer Paloma Wool, who often makes gauzy garments that either prove to be a fun styling challenge or a thinly-clad statement. I love the delicate silks and satins they work with, which often lend to very feminine but playful looks.

I’ve also been obsessed with the brand Handover’s sparkly skirts that have completely taken over my Instagram feed (and my closet). They play with the sheerness of sequins, and the result is an ultra-cool, almost wet look that also shimmers in the light.
It may seem daunting to style clothing that toes the line between risque and publicly indecent, but if you’re up for the challenge, a sheer skirt delivers a fliratious touch with a high fashion payoff. Personally, my favorite way to wear the cheeky bottom is to fully lean into its sheerness by showing off a pair of cute, colorblocked underwear. But if you'd prefer a more modest approach, you can also opt for boyshorts under to cover more surface area.
As for which top to wear with a sheer shirt, think of the age-old phrase, "opposites attract"—an elevated high neckline or crisp turtleneck is so chic and can balance out the look by adding more structure. Especially for the colder months, the weight of a nice sweater contrasts well with a light, wispy material on the bottom.
And for those who want to dabble in the trend but don’t feel fully comfortable with the near-nakedness, you can always layer two sheer pieces on top of each other for a more opaque look, or even borrow from past eras and use slips underneath to create more coverage. Both of these latter ideas are bonuses during fall's weather, since the extra pieces offer an extra layer of warmth.

So what do you think? Has the cheeky trend gone too far—and are some things truly better left to the imagination? Or have paper-thin skirts only created a new way for us to have fun with what we choose to show and hide?
]]>Over the years, multiple royal sources have stated that the late Queen experienced a pain-free birth method using drugs that put her into a "twilight sleep." Most recently, Milli Hill, author of The Positive Birth Book, told the Daily Mail that Princess Elizabeth joined women around the world in choosing to be sedated during her birth, a method viewed by some as progressive.
"News travelled fast of a clinic in Germany that was offering these 'pain-free' births," Hill told the outlet. "Women began to demand twilight sleep as part of the new discourse about their autonomy, and the method spread across the USA, UK and Europe, with even Queen Elizabeth II using a version in the birth of her first three children."

According to the Associated Press, expecting mothers "were knocked out during childbirth by a combination of different drugs such as morphine or scopolamine that thrust them into a semi-conscious state and often took away their memory of birth."
The practice was later eliminated due to side effects such as "horrifying flashbacks, increased birth complications and even death," per Hill. However, even in the fifties, "Queen Elizabeth's decision to use this extreme form of pain relief would have been viewed as 'radical' at the time," the outlet noted.
Fortunately, mother and baby were healthy when the Princess Royal came into the world, with Prince Philip telling people after her birth, "It's the sweetest girl." And while Prince Andrew was also born while his mother was in twilight sleep, Queen Elizabeth chose to deliver normally with her fourth and youngest child, Prince Edward.
